Pandemic Unemployment Assistance is accepting claims for self-employed workers

Self-employed workers who have lost work as a result of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic can now file for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA).

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor says the PUA website is fully functional and able to take claims, including the ability to backdate weekly claims to when workers first became unemployed. Self-employed workers, independent contractors and gig workers are eligible for benefits under PUA. The program provides up to 39 weeks of benefits for those who have lost work because of the coronavirus.

After the first payment, you will receive weekly PUA payments typically within three business days after filing your weekly certification. If you have questions or need assistance, please email ucpua@pa.gov. This email address is for PUA questions only.
